The name of EQUIST comes from "EQUIvalent STeels". The objective of this package is to allow the user to identify and cross-reference international steels where the known information may be the material designation, country of origin, Werkstoff number, national standard, composition, or a specified set of mechanical or other properties (more than 70 fields, where these form an integral part of a standard). The program has been constructed from information relating to over 20,000 steels, drawn from the standards of 23 countries as well as ISO and CEN specifications.

• Database of more than 20,000 national standardized steels in 23 countries, as defined by international standardization bodies (ISO, CEN)
• Identification of steels (EN, AFNOR, ASTM, BS, DIN, GOST, JIS, MSZ, UNE, etc.)
• Determination of equivalent steels of other countries
